Quiff, glasses and making Hush Puppies
Lego Imagine Ad Campaign, The Simpsons by Jung von Matt
The yellow family must be very well known to be instantly recognisable even in such an abstracted form.
Timberland are producing some cracking footwear of late, they seem to have a couple of branch-offs from their regular range these days. Earthkeepers, Timberland Boot Co., Mountain Athletics, Customise range and my personal favourite Abington by Timberland.
Abington by Timberland is the companies premium range, using top quality leathers, suede and waxed canvas, combining those with the highest level of factory process construction.
All topped off with rawhide laces and oil resistant Vibram soles. Coming in limited numbers means there’s not going to be many knocking about (unless that’s a bit of cheeky false info?) so I reckon they’d be a really good investment. Because they have a Vibram sole it means they can be re-soled with a quick trip to a repiturable cobbler/factory. So they’ll last for years, just like your old Red Wing’s. Red Wing are seen as superior by most but I reckon the A.byT. would be a nice break from the norm.
I remember when I younger I went through a Wu-tang phase and started wearing Timberland boots, it was that and Will Smith in Fresh Prince that made me save my weekly pocket money to buy a pair of the classic 6” inch nubuck boots. I looked pretty daft, the hip hop style doesn’t bode well for a skinny white guy from the north of England, but that wasn’t the point, I didn’t care. If they’re good enough for Method Man they’re good enough for me.
Times have changed and so have tastes, everything’s more refined these days, less and less about cashing into trends and more dressing to your own personal style. The Abington’s range fit into this category.
